While the race for mayor tends to get all the headlines in a municipal election campaign, it can be a fairly simple task for voters to sort out a preferred choice.
But trying to sort through the dozens, mostly unknown, candidates for city council can be a challenge.
There are four people running against Mayor Colin Basran for the top job in the city but Tom Dyas, who finished a strong second in 2018, is the obvious challenger.

David Habib, Silverado Socrates and Glendon Charles Smedley are also mayoral candidates.
There are 32 people who filed to run for the eight city council positions.
Historically, it’s rare for any incumbent city councillor to be defeated in Kelowna so with six incumbents running there are only two positions “open.”
Maxine DeHart, Gail Given, Charlie Hodge, Mohini Singh, Luke Stack and Loyal Wooldridge are all running for re-election.
Election day is Oct. 15. Nominations are now closed.
