Crystal clear night for full Strawberry Moon viewing in Kamloops, Okanagan
The last full moon of spring is reaching peak illumination this week and overnight sky conditions in Kamloops and the Okanagan will be perfect for viewing it. June’s Strawberry moon reaches peak illumination just after midnight on Wednesday, June 11, appearing full the night before and after. June’s moon is known as a Strawberry Moon because it appears when strawberries are ripening and ready to be gathered, but it also goes by other names among various First Nations including Blooming Moon, Green Corn Moon and Birth Moon, according to the Old Farmers Almanac. European names for this moon include Honey Moon and Mead Moon. Overnight sky conditions are forecast to be crystal clear for full moon viewing in Kamloops and the Okanagan on Tuesday, June 10. For the following two nights there's a chance of rain.
