iN NUMBERS: Jailhouse facts and figures in Kamloops, Okanagan

You might have wondered how local correctional facilities stack up against the ones you see on TV. To help ease your curiosity we have some fun and some not-so-fun data about BC Corrections facilities in Kamloops and the Okanagan. BC Corrections provides secure custody for individuals awaiting trial as well as for individuals serving sentences of less than two years. Here are the numbers: 1: Corrections facility in the Okanagan, the Okanagan Correctional Centre. 1: Corrections facility in Kamloops, the Kamloops Correctional Centre. 401: Cells in the Okanagan Correctional Centre. 185: Cells in the Kamloops Correctional Centre. 28: Million pounds of concrete was delivered to build the Okanagan Correctional Centre. 36: Years ago the Kamloops Correctional Centre opened. 7: Days a week there is soup on the menu for lunch in BC Corrections facilities, including Kamloops and the Okanagan.
