No injuries in concrete collapse at major downtown Kamloops development

Construction is on pause in one section of a downtown Kamloops development after a concrete collapse. No one was injured in the incident where concrete was being poured atop the three-level parkade at City Gardens on Wednesday morning, March 5. Wet concrete and rebar can be seen where it fell in. "No injuries, no major issues. We have a little bit of clean up to do, but at this point no major damage to the parkade," Kelson Group president Jason Fawcett said. "Our local engineering team is on-site assessing the situation. All construction staff and everybody involved is safe," Fawcett said. The project is the city's largest single development, encompassing almost an entire downtown block between Battle and St. Paul streets. Two towers, respectively 24 and 20 storeys high, are under construction while more mid-rise apartments and townhouses will follow.
