Penticton fashion show puts spotlight on inclusivity

A Uniquely Fashionable Fashion Show is being held in Penticton tonight.

The Dragonfly Pond Society is hosting the fashion show at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

It’s an event where people with disabilities get to be celebrated and are given an opportunity to really shine and be the star.

“So often those aren’t the opportunities they’re given, so they’re just thrilled for this,” society coordinator Tricia Hernes said.

The 46 models picked their attire from The Bay, where they were invited for exclusive after-hours shopping .

“They gave us a huge discount to make it possible,” Hernes said.

There is no theme for the show so models were free to choose an outfit that suited their style.

“There’s a huge variety of what everybody wears,” she said.

Models will be escorted down the runway by members of the Penticton Vees.

The Uniquely Fashionable Fashion Show starts at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 30. Doors open an hour early and guests are encouraged to arrive early to socialize.

Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased here.
