With the federal election campaign is well underway in Kamloops and the Okanagan, here are some upcoming political events and other happenings in the region.
Conservative party leader Pierre Poilievre is hosting a Canada First Rally at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at 1704 Government Street in Penticton. Liberal leader Mark Carney was in Kelowna back in February, but so far has not announced another visit to the region ahead of election day.
The Penticton Chamber of Commerce has organized a forum for the candidates running in Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay at the Cleland Community Theatre from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 9.
The Liberals announced Gloria Morgan, former chief of the Splatsin First Nation, as its candidate in the riding this week. The Conservative party has longtime Penticton city councillor Helena Konanz running under its banner. Penticton Brain Injury Society director Linda Sankey is running for the NDP.

The Kamloops and District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum for both the Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies and Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola electoral districts. The forums will be back-to-back online on April 22. The Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies forum will start at 6 p.m. and the Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola forum will start at 7:30 p.m.
In the riding of Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies, Ken Robertson is running for the Liberals, incumbent Conservative MP for the former riding of North Okanagan-Shuswap is running for re-election and Phaedra Idzan is running for the NDP.
In Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola, the NDP’s Miguel Godau is up against current Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Conservative MP Frank Caputo and two-time Green Party candidate Iain Currie is running for the Liberals this time around.
The deadline for candidates to enter the race is 2 p.m. on Monday, April 7, with official candidate lists

The advance polling days are around the Easter long weekend, each day from April 18 to 21. Voters can cast their ballot early at any Elections Canada office until April 22.
Online voter registration closes at 6 p.m. on April 22, but voters can still register in person at the polls. If you're already registered to vote, you'll be getting a voter information card in the mail soon.
