The Kamloops courthouse was locked down Thursday morning as police investigated an unfolding incident.
What spurred the evacuation isn’t clear, but Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Sofie Winkels said officers cleared the building around 9 a.m., June 19, out of an "abundance of caution."
BC Sheriffs continued guarding the area outside the courthouse into the afternoon and couldn't say when the incident would be resolved.
Access to the surrounding Interior Health and provincial government buildings has been possible only through the rear, while the front remains closed.
Winkels said more information would be coming later.
