Counterfeit bills have been found at several stores around Kamloops, and police are looking for a suspect.
The fake money was found in three retail stores over the weekend, March 8 and 9, according to a press release from police.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male who is 6’ tall and 180 lb. He has brown hair, a short beard and was wearing a surgical mask.
The stores that were hit were in the 900-block of Columbia Street West, the 500-block of Notre Dame Drive and the 1000-block of Hillside Road over a 24-hour period.
Police think the incidents are related since they involved fake $20 polymer bills.
“As part of the investigation so far, police have received a suspect image from the Notre Dame location and are releasing it in the hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and contact police,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
The fake bills were seized by the National Anti-Counterfeiting Bureau.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect, has dash camera footage that may have captured his movements, or more information, has been asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-6694.
