'Sons of Anarchy' stars coming to Okanagan for charity ride
A fundraising motorcycle ride, that was cancelled last year due the dangerous wildfire activity in the Central Okanagan, featuring actors from the TV show Sons of Anarchy is back on this summer. Kim Coates, Mark Boone Jr. and Theo Rossi will take part in the Charity Ride for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central and Southern Interior later this month. The fundraising event, sponsored by Kelowna Harley-Davidson, invites motorcyclists from throughout the region to take ride with the Sons and raise money for the cause. “This project is absolute proof that when people come together and ask for the help of others, a stronger community can be built,” Kelowna Harley-Davidson general manager Kobi Schtelzer said in a media release. “In this case, every person that has been a part of this team will ensure that many young boys and girls benefit from the great work of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.” The agency was created more than 50 years ago and has a mission to provide mentoring relationships for young people to realize their full potential. The ride will start and finish at the Harley-Davidson dealership at 888 McCurdy Place on Saturday, Aug. 24. Riders are asked to arrive by 10 a.m. with kickstands up at 11 a.m. for the ride. Non-riders can join in at noon with a community barbecue, food trucks, flash tattoos, a photo booth, a DJ and local vendors, plus a concert with The Barrel Maker and Vancouver Island’s Cameron Whitcomb of American Idol fame which starts at 3 p.m. To contact a reporter for this story, email Howard Alexander mailto:halexander@infonews.ca  or call 250-309-5343 or email the editor mailto:news@infonews.ca .
