A wildfire that broke out in Penticton's this afternoon is now being held. The fire on the city's West Bench is currently a little more than two hectares in size and being held, according to BC Wildfire Service https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/incidents?fireYear=2024&incidentNumber=K51856&source=map . It's burning in the West Bench Electoral Area "F" of the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen. It was discovered sometime today, Aug. 6, and is believed to have been human caused. The City of Penticton has set up a reception centre for residents who have been displaced by the fire. Residents who need assistance can call the regional district Emergency Support Services at 250-486-1890 or the City of Penticton Emergency Support Services at 250-328-8749.
