Kamloops nurse disciplined for giving opioid dose to wrong patient

A Kamloops nurse can't work alone after giving an opioid dose to the wrong patient. The BC College of Nurses and Midwives reprimanded the nurse more than a year after she incorrectly gave out a 24 milligram dose of hydromorphone. Amaris Foster, a licensed practical nurse, isn't allowed to work without other nurses on duty. She can't train new staff or supervise students, nor can she work overtime and nightshifts, according to an April 12 notice from the college. The incident was on March 5, 2023, but it's not clear where. The college didn't say where Foster was working at the time, but she primarily works at a private assisted living facility. Her restrictions will be in place for nine months. No other information was provided in the notice.
