West Kelowna has hired a new chief administration officer who was most recently a city manager in Manitoba. Ron Bowles will be leaving his current job as the city manager in Brandon, according to a City of West Kelowna media release issued today, July 11. “I could not pass up the opportunity to work for a purpose-driven and forward-thinking Council in a dynamic, rapidly growing and evolving community,” Bowles said in the release. Mayor Gord Milsom says Bowles’ experience is needed at this time in the city. “The City of West Kelowna continues to deliver programs, services and infrastructure at a very high level and our quickly growing community can count on Mr. Bowles to provide strong guidance and solution-driven, partnership-oriented leadership,” Milsom said in the release. "Mr. Bowles’ municipal government track record will ensure that our City can continue to build on solid partnerships with other  governments and stakeholders.” Bowles said although he'll miss the community his team built he's excited to establish new roots. "My wife and I have enjoyed many summers as tourists, camping at Bear Creek and watching our children in sport camps,” Bowles said.
