Pickup abandoned after damaging trails at Lake Country bike parkRCMP are looking for the driver who abandoned a pickup truck after it slide down an embankment on the trails near the new Lake Country bike park on Wednesday. Lake Country workers called police at around 8:30 a.m. March 26 after discovering the damage to the trails and the embankment and the abandoned 2014 Dodge pickup. RCMP say the truck got on the trails and was driving on them when a bank slipped and the pickup ended up stuck on the hill near the water treatment plant. Turns out the truck is uninsured and there was no sign of the driver when police arrived at the scene. RCMP are looking for the driver, but if they aren’t identified and charged, the registered owner of the truck could be handed a ticket. “This is an exceptionally disappointing incident,” Lake Country RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle said in the release. “The driver of this truck made the conscious decision to try and destroy a brand new bike park which would have been a massive loss to the community.” If anyone saw this incident, or has information to provide, they’re asked to contact Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
