Smoky skies bulletin issued for South Thompson including Kamloops
It’s going to get smoky in the South Thompson region, the question is just how smoky is it going to get. A smoky skies bulletin has been issued today, July 19, by Environment Canada and the BC Ministry of Environment that covers a large area including Kamloops and the South Thompson Region. Wildfire smoke is also expected to impact the Fort Nelson, Peace River, 100 Mile, Kootenay Lake, East Kootenay and Arrow-Slocan Lake regions over the next 24 to 48 hours. “Lightning has been widespread across the province and can cause new fires that change smoke conditions very quickly,” the bulletin read. “Smoke will be highly variable across the province as new fires become active and local winds change.” The next smoky skies update will be issued Saturday, July 20.
