City councillor has competition for Kamloops-Centre BC NDP nomination
A former international student and insurance manager is going up against a Kamloops city councillor for the opportunity to run for the BC NDP in the upcoming provincial election. Kamal Grewal has announced she is seeking the BC NDP nomination for the Kamloops-Centre riding, while two-time Kamloops city councillor Bill Sarai is aiming for the same nomination. The BC NDP have confirmed neither Grewal nor Sarai, but whoever gets the NDP nomination is going to be up against Dennis Giesbrecht from the BC Conservatives and Peter Milobar from BC United. Grewal put out a press release today, June 6, to announce she is seeking the nomination and outline her political priorities. Yet, the voices in this race in Kamloops look backwards, not forward, to failed ideas,” Grewal said in the release. Grewal moved to Canada at the age of 16 and got a business degree from Thompson Rivers University. She is also an executive at the Kamloops Centre NDP Electoral District Association. “I am proud to call Kamloops my home. I have found myself surrounded by love and support that has embraced me and inspired me to dedicate myself to serving our community and province at this crucial time, we’re at a crossroads,” she said.
