The driver of a truck involved in a collision that killed an 18-year-old motorcyclist in Kelowna two years ago failed to show up to court.
Adam James Wilson, born 1986, was supposed to appear in a Kelowna courtroom, May 16, facing one charge of failing to yield. He didn't show up for the trial and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest.
The incident took place in June 2022

near the Kelowna airport at the intersection of Highway 97 and Old Vernon Road.
Lake Country resident James Hansom was driving his motorbike back from work that afternoon when he collided with Wilson's truck allegedly pulling out of the intersection.
Hansom, who was 18 years old, was killed.
Police had asked for witnesses or dash camera recordings to come forward and a year later Wilson was charged, although he wasn't charged with a driving offence that caused a fatality.
Following his son's death, Hansom's father Tavin Hansom had called for something to be done at the intersection.

"It’s a major intersection right there, there’s a lot of traffic in there. There's people constantly powering (up) trying to get into traffic... and people are constantly breaking hard," Tavin told iNFOnews.ca at the time.
Months before the teen motorcyclist was killed a cyclist was also killed in the same area

.
In the four years from 2016 to 2020, ICBC reported 125 crashes at the intersection.
