The historic and mammoth Hat Creek Ranch in Cache Creek will be sold through an online auction next month with a starting price of $5.9 million. The ranch, along with adjacent properties, is going up for sale on Aug. 15 as a package called the Hat Creek Ranch Collection that's more than 74-thousand acres, according to a media release by CLHBid.com issued, July 9.  "This is more than an opportunity to own a piece of British Columbia heartland, it's an invitation to become part of a story that has spanned generations and has barely begun," said Tyler Ruttan with CLHBid.com in the release. "It's more than just a ranch. Hat Creek offers an entire world where nature still dictates the rhythm of life, a rare gateway to a life less ordinary. It's a place where history, heritage, and opportunities converge and that's the value here as much as a simple property investment." The ranch was founded by the Park family more than a century ago when Philip Park came from Ireland to mine gold but ended up ranching instead. He bought the Hat Creek Ranch in 1900 and the property has been handed down through the family for four generations.  The ranch is located in a protected valley with room for more than 450 cow/calf pairs. The Hat Creek Ranch Collection covers 74,716 acres, comprised of 2,387 deeded acres, 61,531 acres in grazing licences, 9,518 acres in grazing leases, and 1,280 acres in a BC Hydro agricultural lease.
