The Whistle Dog is returning to the A&W menu across Canada and die-hard fans of the iconic fast-food item played a role. The restaurant released an award-winning documentary film about the Whistle Dog fandom, marking the first time a quick-service restaurant has released a short film about a menu item, according to a media release issued May 15. Bring Back The Whistle Dog is an 18-minute documentary filmed in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver, that showcases the relentless efforts of five Whistle Dog Warriors to get the hotdog back on the menu, from writing songs about it, bombarding social media and starting petitions.  The film had its premier in Vancouver and has earned praises at international film festivals.
