A BC nurse has been placed on probation for verbally agitating vulnerable residents.
According to a May 16 BC College of Nurses and Midwives decision, Licenced Practical Nurse Deborah Leitch engaged in "verbal exchanges with vulnerable residents" which "escalated" the situation.
The decision says Leitch's behaviour was contrary to what was directed in the patients' care plans.
While the nurse was under investigation she then contacted and intimidated a witness which also breached confidentiality requirements. She also distributed a confidential document.
The nursing regulator says the conduct took place between February and July 2023 but does the public a disservice by not saying where Leitch was working at the time.
The decision only says she is based in Pitt Meadows.
Leitch signed a consent agreement admitting to her behaviour.
The College says the nurse has been prohibited for one year from carrying a patient assignment where 51% or more of the patients have psychiatric, mental health, behavioural or memory care issues.
She also has to undergo education in documentation, communication and a respectful workplace.
