BREAKING: Crews battle fire at St. Andrew's on the Square in downtown Kamloops
Kamloops fire crews are battling a blaze at a historic church in downtown Kamloops. The fire broke out at around 9 a.m. today, May 2, at St. Andrew's on the Square at the corner of Seymour Street and Second Avenue. A security guard on the scene said a campfire may have touched off the blaze. A natural gas line at the side of the building could be seen burning. At one point there was an explosion which was likely a hydro transformer blowing up. That has knocked out power to the area. Smoke can be seen coming out of the roof through the shingles. Traffic, already impacted by city works in the area, has been impacted by the fire. Drivers should avoid the area. iNFOnews.ca has a reporter at the scene and this story will be updated as more information is gathered.
