Residents in a Kamloops neighbourhood awoke this morning to find damage to vehicles from a vandalism spree.
Kamloops RCMP received a report about several cars with smashed windows in the 1900-block of Qu’appelle Boulevard in Juniper Ridge around 5:30 a.m. today, June 27, according to a press release from police.
Shortly after the initial report several other vehicles were discovered to have smashed windows and slashed tires in other parts of Juniper Ridge. So far, police have found damage on 10 vehicles but RCMP suspects there are more.
“At this time, some of the victims may not have realized yet that their vehicle was damaged during this series of destructive acts,” Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “We are reaching out to the public to see if they witnessed, have video surveillance including doorbell cameras, or dash camera footage that could help police identify a suspect.”
There is no definitive timeline for when the destruction began but police said the damage could have started as early as yesterday evening and continued overnight.
Police are still contacting the owners of the damaged vehicles.
Anyone who might have information about this case, including witnesses of suspicious vehicles or people in the area, and people who discover damage on their vehicles, are asked to call Kamloops RCMP.
