The Thompson-Nicola Regional District expanded the evacuation order for the Shetland Creek wildfire to include an area south of Spences Bridge.
The evacuation order has been expanded to include properties in the Murray Creek drainage, along Colvin Road west of the Trans-Canada Highway, and other properties outlined on the map, according to a notice from the district.
There are now a total of roughly 97 properties on evacuation order.
Anyone in an area under evacuation order must leave immediately.
The district is telling people to only take what they can immediately, transport pets in kennels or on leashes, close gates but don’t lock them, turn off electricity sources and unplug appliances.
FortisBC will turn off natural gas service as needed.
There are a total of six evacuation alerts, and four evacuation orders because of the Shetland Creek wildfire.
