An online fundraiser for the family of a Kamloops man killed in a crash on Highway 5 North has raised more than $27,000. Balmores, a 36-year-old CN employee, was driving a company truck when they collided with the transport truck around 12:50 a.m. His coworker and passenger, who hasn't been identified, was injured and taken to hospital, while a passenger in the semi truck was killed. Neither occupant of the semi-truck has been identified. "We need our small but mighty terminal to come together in the time of need to help support Ria, his wife, while she tries to navigate unfamiliar territory with their three young children." The United Steelworkers Union issued a statement on April 25, mourning Balmores death. “Joining CN Rail in 2022, Juver quickly endeared himself to his colleagues with his kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment to his work,” Cole Kramer, steelworkers union local 2004 president, said in the statement. “His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, within the CN Rail community and beyond.” The cause of the collision is still being investigated.
