Kamloops paralympic gold medallist subject of children's book
A new children’s book starring Kamloops paralympic shot putter Greg Stewart is on sale and a book launch will be held later this month. Stewart won a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics https://infotel.ca/newsitem/kamloopss-greg-stewart-unleashes-gold-winning-shot-put-at-tokyo-paralympics/it85495 in 2021 for his shot put distance of 16.75 metres. The athlete was born with part of his arm missing and grew to over seven feet tall, which made it difficult to fit in, according to the book's author Sean Campbell. “It was about that feeling from inside him, he always felt he didn’t fit in,” said book author Sean Campbell. “Until he found a group he felt included in and moved forward into shot put, it was an internal battle.” The book, called Stand Out: The True Story of Paralympic Gold Medallist Greg Stewart aims to inspire dedication and perseverance in young readers. Stewart’s story of rising to a gold medal achievement is told through rhyming text and with colourful illustrations by Lana Lee, a professional illustrator in Pennsylvania. Books will be sold at 25% off at the launch, and tickets are available here. https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/shot-of-gold-canfund-fundraiser-tickets-921949946107?aff=oddtdtcreator&utm_campaign=postpublish&utm_medium=sparkpost&utm_source=email The book can be also be found on Amazon.  https://www.amazon.sg/Stand-Out-Paralympic-Medallist-Stewart/dp/1739008944 Campbell published a children’s book in 2021 about former Kamloops Blazer captain Ajay Baines https://infotel.ca/newsitem/kamloops-blazers-alum-ajay-baines-and-author-launch-childrens-book/it95822 .
