Overnight skies are expected to be crystal clear in Kamloops and the Okanagan for viewing June’s Strawberry full moon.
The moon reaches peak illumination at 6:08 p.m. on Friday, June 21, appearing full from Thursday evening through to Sunday morning.
The Strawberry moon got its name as it appears during strawberry harvesting season in the northeastern United States, according to NASA

. It's also known as the Flower moon, Hot moon and Planting moon among other names.
The June summer solstice begins at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, marking the beginning of summer and the longest period of daylight for the year.
During the solstice, the sun is at it northernmost position in relation to Earth’s equator and the full moon will appear low in the sky, NASA said.
