An RCMP officer suffered minor injuries during as arrest on a Kelowna transit bus Thursday evening.
Officers were called to a report of a weapon “displayed” by a person in a group of people early yesterday evening, May 24, according to an RCMP media release.
The weapons call resulted in a “large police presence” around the bus and officers boarded it in the 200 block of Rutland Road North.
As an officer attempted to arrest one of the individuals, she was assaulted and suffered minor injuries, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Ryan Watters said.
A suspect was arrested.
RCMP don’t say if anyone else was injured the incident nor if the suspect suffered any injuries. Police also don’t say what kind of weapon was involved.
Investigators are collecting evidence and ask anyone with has dash camera footage of video surveillance of assault to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 20024-27587.
