Kamloops RCMP found archery equipment stolen from a local club, but are still on the lookout for the thieves.
Two suspects broke into the home of the Kamloops Target Sports Association and the Kamloops Bowbenders Club in the 2700 block of Hillside Drive, Oct. 29 and stole archery equipment, according to an RCMP media release.
Bows, arrows, hats, shirts, armguards and gloves were found abandoned in a bushy area of Westsyde Road on Nov. 12.
The club’s director Katie Britton told RCMP she’s happy to have the gear back.
“We’re really happy to have gotten some of our stuff back,” Britton said in the RCMP release. “It’s good because now we can start to plan for our beginners’ programs again.”
The club is going to assess which items are still usable and what is still missing.
Britton said the community has been providing donations to the club and information about the burglary to police.
“As part of the investigative process, police were led to an area outside of town, where many items belonging to the group were located and retrieved by officers,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “Evidence was seized for forensic examination and the rest of the items were returned to the club.”
Police have received several tips related to the break and enter.
“It was great to see so many items recovered and returned, but the investigation isn’t over yet,” Cpl. Evelyn said. “The public is encouraged to please contact police as soon as possible if they have information that could be related, including the identity of the suspects or the movements of the truck they were observed driving.”
Police are asking the public to review pictures of the suspects, and the truck they are associated with. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-35765.
