Racist words were spray painted at a playground in Kamloops earlier this week.
Sometime overnight Tuesday, Aug. 27, vandals used spray paint at the Rainbow Park playground in McCurrach Place Park in Westsyde, according to an RCMP media release.
Parks of the play structure and a picnic table were covered with racist and hateful graffiti, RCMP said.
“The fact that someone would intentionally damage a children’s park in and of itself is appalling, but that they would further subject the community to such hateful and racist words is absolutely disgusting,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
Cans of spray paint were seized and will be part of the investigation as police look for the culprits.
Anyone who witnessed the vandalism or has video related to the incident is asked to call Kamloops RCMP 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-28418.
