Weapons, cash and drugs seized during police crackdown in Kamloops gang war

Kamloops RCMP seized a stockpile of weapons, drugs and cash following a series of shootings between rival drug traffickers. Kamloops RCMP received support from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit British Columbia and Uniform Gang Enforcement Team for an “enforcement blitz,” according to a press release from RCMP today, May 17. Police have seized nine firearms, knives, a hatchet, machete, ammunition, baton, roughly $20,000 in cash, fentanyl, meth, cocaine and crack since May 5. “This last week’s police presence should send a clear message to the drug traffickers in Kamloops who continue to prey on the vulnerable and threaten the sense of safety and security of our residents: there is no place for you here,” Kamloops RCMP detachment officer in charge Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release. “We will not relent in our pursuit of justice and will do everything we can to help keep our community safe.” Police issued a public warning following a series of arsons and shootings in the beginning of May. Alison Laurin, the Combined Forces Deputy Operations Support Officer. “(Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit) is committed to assisting our partners around the province in fulfilling our mandate to target those individuals who pose the highest risk to public safety.” Heading into the long weekend Kamloops RCMP will continue to crackdown on drug traffickers, Supt.
