Kelowna celebrated Canada’s 157th birthday in style with food trucks, live music, and fireworks.
Celebrate Canada Day Kelowna kicked off at 11 a.m. and ran all day until the fireworks at 10 p.m.
There were attractions in Waterfront Park, Stuart Park, and the Folk Fest in Prospera Place. The City of Kelowna and Festivals Kelowna team up with corporate sponsors to throw the event every year.
Thousands of people swarmed downtown in red and white to enjoy the festivities or just soak in the day on the beach. There were even some dogs sporting Canadian colours yesterday.
There was some intermittent rain but that didn’t slow the festival down, and the performers played on.
The fireworks show was a last minute addition. The Shoreline Pile Driving barge was taken out to the middle of Okanagan Lake to make the pyrotechnic display as safe as possible.
