Kamloops police are investigating a man’s sudden death since the cause is unknown.
Kamloops RCMP responded to an unconscious man at a residence in the 600-block of Sydney Avenue around 3:20 p.m. on June 8, according to a press release from police.
Police located the man in the home and he appeared to have serious injuries caused by blunt force trauma. The man was taken to hospital but he died in the early hours of June 9.
“As part of the sudden death investigation, police executed a search warrant on the residence to help determine what occurred and if any criminality was suspected,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
Neighbours in the area, who did not provide their names, said they saw a large presence of police and first responders at a row of townhouses on the street over the weekend.
They said police regularly patrol the street and it's not unusual to see an RCMP presence on Sydney Avenue. Meanwhile, neighbours are watchful of crime in the area and "look out for each other," they said.
They did not say anything about who might have been involved in the incident that left one man dead, nor which of the townhouses was the scene of the large police response on Saturday.
On Monday morning, the street appeared clear of any police presence.
Police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the man’s death.
