BC United’s leader will be in Kelowna next week for a town hall meeting. Leader of the official opposition Kevin Falcon promises a town hall-style question and answer period following his opening remarks. The recent rise of the Conservative Party of BC is proving to be a challenge for BC United as a provincial election looms in October. Recent polling shows the governing New Democrats the favourite to win the 2024 general election with the BC Conservatives in a comfortable second place position ahead of BC United and the BC Greens. All the ridings in Kelowna and area are currently held by BC United MLAs. After 14 years as MLA for Kelowna-Lake Country, Norm Letnick announced https://infotel.ca/newsitem/kelowna-lake-country-mla-norm-letnick-not-running-for-re-election/it98029 he will not run for re-election. The party has selected Pavneet Singh to run in the riding of Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream. Stephen Johnson will be the candidate in the riding of West Kelowna-Peachland after Ben Stewart stepped aside. Dr. Michael Humer is the party’s candidate in Kelowna-Centre. Falcon's town hall meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna. The BC election will be held on or before Oct. 19.
