Same Lake Country suspect caught with stolen truck then stolen boat
A suspect in Lake Country was caught with a stolen truck, then a stolen boat two days later. Lake Country RCMP conducted a traffic stop when they saw a suspicious looking vehicle on Woodsdale Road on June 8, according to a press release from police. The officer noticed the truck had been repainted, but determined it had been stolen out of Alberta. Two suspects in the truck were arrested and later released, and RCMP said it is recommending charges for possession of stolen property over $5,000. Police saw one of the same suspects lowering a boat into a local boat launch on June 10. RCMP stopped the suspect and realized the boat had also been stolen in Alberta. The suspect was arrested and released on paperwork, RCMP said, and charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 are being recommended for the boat as well. RCMP are still investigating and working with Mounties in Alberta to find out if there are any other links to crimes there. "Lake Country RCMP remains committed in reducing property theft in our community, targeting those responsible and bringing them before the courts," Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle said in the release.  Anyone with information about either of these incidents, or similar incidents, is asked to call Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288, or give an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
