CP Holiday Train arrives in Shuswap tonight, Kamloops tomorrow

The CP Holiday Train will be rolling through Kamloops and the Shuswap for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.

The train decorated with hundreds of thousands of LED lights and carrying performers is raising money and food donations for local food banks. The train's first Canadian stop was in Lac Megantic, Que. and it will finish in Port Coquitlam on Dec. 18.

The train will be rolling through Sicamous, Canoe, Salmon Arm and Notch Hill tonight, Dec. 15, and then tomorrow night it will make stops in Chase, Kamloops, Ashcroft and Lytton. Check this map for exact times in each community.

Audiences will be treated to boxcar performances by MacKenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas.

CP chief executive officer, Keith Creel says the holiday train, now in its 24th year of celebration, is a reminder to help those who are less fortunate this holiday season.

"The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need," Creel says. "We are excited to be back out on the rails and in our communities, taking these two beautiful trains across our network and sharing the joy that comes with gathering in the spirit of giving."
