Intoxicated man detained after disturbance at Kamloops city hall
Kamloops RCMP took one man into custody after he caused a disturbance at city hall Friday morning. Officers closed in on city hall around 8 a.m., June 7, where a shirtless man, intoxicated by drugs, was inside, according to Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Darren Dodge. Earlier, officers surrounded an apartment building on the 100 block of St. Paul Street barely a block away. They were called for another disturbance and there were reported to be weapons. Staff Sgt. Dodge said officers investigated but found no weapons, but the man at city hall was involved in both calls. Staff at city hall watching as police detained the shirtless, intoxicated man wouldn't comment on what happened, but Dodge said the man didn't threaten the safety of staff inside. The man was later taken to detachment cells to sober up, but no charges are anticipated.
