While June may have seemed a lot wetter than the last few years, rainfall across Kamloops and the Okanagan still lags behind its usual amount.
According to Environment Canada, Kamloops saw about two-thirds of the rainfall it ordinarily gets in June with 24.4 millimetres falling instead of the average of 37.4 mm.
Kelowna got about three-quarters of its usual rainfall with 35.4 mm of rain hitting the city below its average of 45.9.
That number dropped to less than half for Vernon, which received 26.1 mm of rain when on average it gets 59.1 mm.
Only Penticton bucked the trend and received more rainfall than usual.
In June, 46 mm fell on the city, higher than its average of 38 mm.
"There's some variability across the Kamloops Fire Centre, you expect that because the month is characterized by... scattered showers so it's not going to be consistent from one place to the next," Environment Canada meteorologist Chris Doyle told iNFOnews.ca.
While June wasn't as wet as normal for most places, the same can not be said for Canada Day.
In Kelowna, July 1 was the second wettest Canada Day in 20 years.
Environment Canada said 3.6 mm of rain fell on July 1 in Kelowna making the second wettest in a generation.
While yesterday's rain seemed intense it wasn't when compared to 2020 when nine millimetres fell on Canada Day. That Canada Day was also the coldest in more than 40 years

in many parts of the Interior as temperatures hovered in the mid-teens.
Yesterday was rather soggy, but rain on Canada Day is rather rare.
It's only rained four times in the last 20 years on July 1.
