The cyclist was passing under Halston Bridge on Rivers Trail when Pentney threw the rock. Kamloops RCMP happened to be in the area for a wellness check and saw the cyclist get hit in the head on May 29.

Police arrested Pentney under the bridge.

At the end of the investigation, he was initially facing two charges. An assault with a weapon charge was stayed upon his guilty plea on Thursday.

The court gave Pentney a conditional discharge, meaning as long as he follows his conditions, he won't have a criminal record at the end of his probation.
