One in custody after heavy Kamloops police response
A heavy police response was prompted by a mental health crisis in downtown Kamloops on Monday. The Kamloops RCMP mental health crisis unit, multiple officers armed with rifles wearing green uniforms, and several other patrol officers were at the scene around noon, April 8. An officer at the scene and a witness would only say it was a mental health call that prompted the police response. One man was taken into custody at the townhouses at 423 1 Ave. Two ambulances arrived at the scene shortly before police cleared out, but it didn't appear that anyone left with paramedics.  Kamloops RCMP detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn did not immediately respond to questions from iNFOnews.ca.
