It’s going to get smoky in the South Thompson region for the next couple of days.
A smoky skies bulletin has been issued today, Aug. 2, by Environment Canada and the BC Ministry of Environment that covers a large area including Kamloops and the southeastern part of the province including Cranbrook for the next 24 to 28 hours.
The bulletin does not include Vernon, Kelowna or Penticton, at least yet.
“Smoke conditions have deteriorated in the southeast region of the province due to consistent heat and little to no precipitation,” the bulletin read. “However, smoke levels vary across the province because of localized rain and changing wind conditions.”
