Tourists rescued after RV got stuck following Google maps in Okanagan
A family of Dutch tourists had to be rescued by Central Okanagan search and rescue volunteers after their RV got stuck. Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was asked to rescue the family at around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, July 11, after they tried to follow Google maps from Penticton to Myra Canyon, according to a search and rescue media release. Their RV was not suited for the terrain and got stuck, but the family managed to find cell service and call for help. Eight search and rescue members found the family near the Dog House snowmobile cabin and escorted the family to the Myra Forest Service Road by 9:30 p.m. Central Okanagan Search and Rescue has completed 51 tasks so far in 2024, including this incident.
