Trans-Canada Highway closed due to vehicle crash

The Trans-Canada Highway is currently closed in both directions following a vehicle accident near Sicamous.

DriveB.C. reported the highway closure between Canoe Beach Drive NE and Bernie Road, between Sicamous and Salmon Arm.

A detour is in effect via Highway 97A starting in Sicamous and Highway 97B from Salmon Arm to Enderby, according to DriveB.C.

DriveB.C.'s next update is expected to occur around 2 p.m. this afternoon, Jan. 9. There is no estimated time of reopening for the highway.

The highway will remain closed for several hours as semi trucks are unloaded and cleared, according to AIM Roads.
