West Kelowna Fire Rescue hoisted a man up a treacherous slope after his vehicle went off the side of Bear Lake Main Forest Service Road. Last night at 8:30 p.m. WKFR received a call about a vehicle going off the road 8 km up the FSR. 2 Engines, 2 Rescues, 2 Safeties and a Command unit, along with RCMP and BC Ambulance responded. Crews from WKFR and Wilson’s Landing Fire Department worked together to lower a firefighter 70 ft down the snowy, icy slope and pull the man back up onto the road. The man was uninjured but shaken up, and aside from the icy conditions the rescue went smoothly.
