Actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher launch GoFundMe to match $3 million for Ukraine

A Ukrainian actor and her husband are hoping to raise millions to support her home country in the middle of a war.

Mila Kunis, who was born in Ukraine, with her husband Ashton Kutcher, announced they will match up to $3 million worth of donations through a GoFundMe effort to raise $30 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine. Last week, Russia invaded Ukraine, causing more than a million people to flee the country.

“While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Through GoFundMe, this fundraiser will provide an immediate impact on refugee and humanitarian aid efforts,” the actors said through social media.

“Today I have never been more proud to be Ukrainian… there is no place in this world for this unjust attack,” Kunis said.

The funds raised will benefit Flexport.org and Airbnb.org , two organizations who are providing immediate help to Ukrainians. Flexport.org is organizing shipments of relief supplies to refugee sites in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova. Airbnb.org is providing free, short-term housing to refugees fleeing Ukraine, they said.

Since it’s launch yesterday, March 4, the fundraiser has already raised $15 million for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine out of its $30 million goal.

The online fundraiser can be found here.
