BC police gang unit involved in raid at Kamloops home
Heavily-armed RCMP officers surrounded a Kamloops home on Friday evening making several arrests. A person with non-life-threatening injuries was located outside a home in the 1100 block of 13 Street on the North Shore at approximately 7:15 p.m., Aug. 23, according to an RCMP media release. Members of the RCMP’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and Uniform Gang Enforcement Team happened to be in town helping local officers when the injured person was discovered. The Emergency Response Team was called in to “safely clear the resident and remove its occupants,” RCMP said. There was a highly-visible police presence as officers executed the search warrant. RCMP said several suspects were arrested and later released. Two of the suspects were released with conditions and court dates. Charges haven’t been laid as the investigation continues. “Targeting those who are known to be part of the Kamloops drug trafficking scene continues to be a focus for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, as we work to suppress and reduce the violence and crime we know is associated to it,” detachment commander Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release. Anyone with information or video related to the raid is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
