The Easter Eggspress Train is chugging along the the Kettle Valley Railway in Summerland all weekend.

But 4-year-old Rowan from Summerland was more excited to see the steam train than he is for Easter. He rode the Eggspress with his grandpa and friend this afternoon, April 16.

Rowan came with a thank-you card he made for the train’s engineer.

Even at his young age, Rowan is already a fan of Andrew McCulloch, the man who engineered the rails in the South Okanagan a century ago.

Four-year-old Claudia is visiting the Okanagan from Vancouver. She wasn’t able to get a ticket for the Eggspress but she went to the station with her family to watch the train and take photos.

The train has 270 seats but due to COVID-19 there were only 233 made available for each run, which all sold out.

“We’re lucky to have the easter bunny come and see all the fresh faces for our very first run of the season,” said business manager Julia Belmonte, adding that the Easter train is a tradition that has been going on for many years.

After this weekend, the next steam train rides are scheduled to take place on Mother’s Day on May 8. Tickets are available through the website
