Today was the first World of Wheels car show in West Kelowna and hundreds of people came out to see dozens of classic cars.
In addition to all of the unique cars there were food trucks, bouncy castles, and a strategically placed beverage garden overlooking the kids’ area. There was live music from the Elvis Presley impersonator band Johnny Elvis and the Rockers.
Awards were given to Mayor Gord Milsom’s favourite ride, and the West Kelowna Fire Department awarded their favourite hot rod.
Candi Adams’ 1957 half-ton GMC pick-up won the mayor’s favour.
Ryan Scarpino’s 1963 Series 62 Convertible Cadillac won the fire department’s pick.
“Fully custom candy paint job, 22 inch rims, full air ride suspension, burgundy top,” he said. “I seen (the fire department) cruising around and they told me, they seen me cruising in and they wanted to see where I parked. One of the organizers came and got me and said that I was going to be winning an award. It's actually her car, my daughter's car.”
Scarpino had the car built in Kelowna and said he had most of the work done by bartering.
“I tattoo for a living, so I kind of just trade work for work. But I've had quite a few different people work on it and do stuff,” he said.
The event ran from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. but iNFOnews.ca got some photos for those who missed it.
