The story follows entrepreneur Tamara Hayes who is dealing with an implosion with her startup and her relationship, according to production company Reel One Entertainment. To take a break, she visits her family’s apple orchard and falls in love with her childhood best friend, also the farm manager, Will Lewis.

Reel One Entertainment even rewrote part of the script to change the name of the apple farm to Gatzke Orchards, said orchard owner Alan Gatzke.

Gatzke said it was an exciting time on set and film crews were very accommodating during the harvest season.

“It was an honour to work (our name) into the script,” he said, adding the film has been sold. Reel One develops, finances, produces and distributes commercial television films and series to networks and streaming services.

A preview of the movie aired Feb. 7. The release date and where it will be shown hasn’t yet been announced but Gatzke said the announcement will be made on Reel One’s Instagram page.

Last year was a good year for film in the Thompson-Okanagan region.

The Thompson-Nicola region saw a record year with roughly $9 million spent across the region by production companies including wages, food, accommodations, equipment and office rentals, and other services.

There were 17 different projects with a combined 329 days of filming in the region, according to a report from the Thompson Nicola Film Commission.

Many films were also shot across the Okanagan including Romance at Crystal Cove in West Kelowna, Drinkwater in Penticton and the series National Parks produced by Kevin Costner in the South Okanagan.
