Irish dance and magic merge in 'Celtic Illusion' show coming to Penticton

Combining Irish dance with magic, the theatrical spectacular Celtic Illusion is coming to Penticton.

The show fuses contemporary Irish dance with magic and illusions, and features a cast of internationally-acclaimed dancers that include performers from both Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

The show heads to the Penticton's South Okanagan Events Centre, April 8.

"We are excited to, once again, share this beautiful show with audiences as we embark on our 2022 tour, and it’s just the tonic necessary after the past two years," producer Jeff Parry said in a media release. "We have been humbled that Celtic Illusion has really connected with people, leading to sold-out houses and rapturous standing ovations."

Celtic Illusion's lead performer is Australian Anthony Street leading roles in Michael Flatley’s widely-acclaimed Lord of the Dance.

"Before I was a dancer, my great passion was magic and illusion, but when I worked with Lord of the Dance for four years beginning when I was 20, magic got pushed to the side," Street said in the release. "When I decided to create this show in Australia, it dawned on me that I should combine my two passions to give audiences a new sensory experience."

Since the show premiered in 2011 it has played to sold-out audiences across Australia and completed a sold-out a tour in Canada.

The show features a new soundtrack composed by a team that includes Angela Little,  a co-composer of Baz Luhrman’s film Australia, Steve Skinner who has worked with artists such as Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder and Broadway musical Rent, and Emmy nominated singer and producer Michael Londra.

Tickets start at $49.50 plus fees.
