A Kamloops couple driving to Sun Peaks Ski Resort were struck head-on before they could make it there.
Annalise Mortimer and her husband Corey Tucker were travelling there to celebrate her birthday on Dec. 8 when the collision occurred.
Both suffered severe injuries and will be unable to work for an extended period of time, according to a GoFundMe page started by Maddie Barendregt, Tucker's sister.
DriveB.C. reported a serious collision Dec. 8, at the CN Road junction along Highway 5. Kamloops Fire Rescue responded with two trucks, according to it's Twitter post. Barendregt confirmed the pair were involved in the accident.
“They have a very long road to recovery,” Barendregt said.
Mortimer suffered a concussion and was flown to Vancouver for surgery on her pelvis, according to the fundraiser page. Tucker will need “extensive and multiple” surgeries on his legs, arms, pelvis and multiple ribs,.
Rehabilitation is expected to take months. Barendregt launched the fundraiser to help with the family’s cost of travel between Vancouver and Kamloops.
More than $20,000 had been raised as of Dec 12.
