Police are asking Kamloops residents to avoid the area around 13 Street and Halston Avenue.
Kamloops RCMP are releasing few details to the public but said officers are in the area is part of an "active investigation" and that the heavily-armed emergency response team is on the scene.
Those within the enclosed area are being asked to stay inside their homes until police say it's safe, according to an emailed statement from RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
Cpl. Evelyn said another update will be provided by police when available.
